Eleven federal Major Disaster Declarations have been declared in ten states/tribal
governments in 2017 to date. There were four declarations in February for severe winter storms in South Dakota, Oklahoma, Kansas and the Hoopa Valley Tribe. There were also two
declaration for severe winter storms, flooding, and mudslides in Nevada and California and one for severe storms, tornadoes and straight-line winds in Louisiana.
As always, please keep all communities who are in long-term recovery, and their caregivers, in your prayers - and give generously to National VOAD agencies, established disaster interfaith and long-term recovery committees. Please donate or lend a volunteer hand in recovery efforts; if we can be helpful, contact our office for suggestions or reach out to your National VOAD partners!
